I’ve been creating, curating and running songwriting workshops and retreats for 10 years in various guises. It all started with London Song Company, which I founded with Julian Marshall and Paul Hussell in 2010. When that closed down I realised I didn’t want to stop running workshops and retreats for songwriters, it had become a passion.
So I have continued, notably creating and running some hugely enjoyable retreats and events led by master of the craft Reg Meuross, whose next retreat is in February 1-5 at beautiful Halsway Manor with special guest facilitator Findlay Napier.
The name Company of Song came from the wonderful feeling of community that evolves on retreats and even online, and my own belief that songs and songwriting are great company in themselves.
The team has grown in 2020 and I’m very happy to welcome back Boo Hewerdine who facilitated on the first ever summer school I was part of; legendary Charlie Dore who I also met through songwriting workshops; Dan Whitehouse who has been running our first ever online workshops (very successfully), Louise Goffin who will be running a masterclass in January, and Julu Irvine and Heg Brignall who will be running performance related workshops for women next year.
Company of Song is an approachable and vibrant community where we can chat, meet, write new songs, share songs, get expert feedback and grow as songwriters – and also as humans – on a shared artistic journey.
