Gather around the “songwriting campfire” with award winning singer-songwriter, composer and talented storyteller Dan Whitehouse and artist mentor Katie Whitehouse
Join Canadian activist-songwriter Luke Wallace and UK singer-songwriter Dan Whitehouse for a workshop suitable for all: sing a protest song, co-write a new one & sing together in solidarity
Former Birmingham Poet Laureate Jasmine Gardosi and award-winning singer-songwriter Dan Whitehouse guide participants through the musicality of language and the power of storytelling. Through writing, voice, rhythm and collaboration, you’ll discover new forms of self-expression - blending lyric and beat, melody and movement - to unlock authentic, transformative performance.
This retreat is a wonderful opportunity for songwriters of all levels to forget about the rest of the world and immerse themselves in their writing amongst like-minded people, and well-supported by Reg and Boo and founder of Company of Song / music manager / artist mentor Katie Whitehouse.
The programme includes group and individual tasks to stretch and challenge, opportunities to collaborate, a chance to play songs to Reg and Boo for feedback (song clinics), song sharing with the group, Q&A sessions, space to write brand new songs, time to relax at the bar, and to enjoy good food and good fun.
Set within the peaceful surroundings of the Sharpham Estate, with views over the River Dart, this three-day songwriting retreat offers a rare chance to step away from the noise of everyday life and fully immerse yourself in your creative practice.
Hosted in alignment with the ethos of Sharpham Trust, the retreat invites you into a space rooted in mindfulness, compassion, and deep connection to nature. It’s a place where songs can emerge shaped by stillness, landscape, the history of place, and shared experience.
Whether you’re an experienced writer or just beginning, you’ll be supported by a team of deeply intuitive facilitators.
